PIANO / Rose Chen
Rose Chen received both her Master of Music (2002) and Graduate Performance Diploma (2004) in piano performance from Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University under the tutelage of Mr. Boris Slutsky. While completing her degrees at Peabody Conservatory, Ms. Chen was granted a full scholarship with teaching assistantship. She has expressed her deep enthusiasm and love for music through her numerous appearances in solo performances and chamber recitals. Currently, Ms. Chen maintains an active piano studio in west San Jose, where her passion for cultivating a love of music in her students has guided many of them to achieve great success in their own musical careers. Her students have won many international competitions and received distinction honors in musical programs such as the Music Teacher Association of California's Young Artist Guild and Panel Honor evaluations. Many of her students went on to major in music after being admitted to leading music schools such as Juilliard Music School, Peabody Conservatory, UCLA, and more. Ms. Chen is proud to share the message of music to young musical artists and hopes to inspire them to continue pursuing music throughout their lives.
PIANO / Ariel Wei
Ariel Wei, a native of Taichung, Taiwan, began studying the piano and zheng at an early age. Ms. Wei has won top music competitions in both instruments and been recognized for her outstanding achievements. Ms. Wei received her B.F.A. from the National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei and an M.A. from Eastern Washington University. After moving to the Bay Area in 2006, she continues her passion for music as a private piano teacher and zheng instructor, and as a piano accompanist.
PIANO / Lee Dionne
Merz pianist Lee Dionne has performed as a recitalist, chamber musician, and soloist with orchestra around the world. He is a core member of New York-based chamber ensemble Cantata Profana and a 2016-2018 piano fellow with Ensemble Connect. Lee has been the recipient of numerous prizes and awards, including a Presser Foundation Music Award, a DAAD Fellowship for Study Abroad in Germany, and Third Prize in the James Mottram International Piano Competition. Lee holds a BA in literature from Yale University and is a current doctoral candidate at Yale School of Music, as well as a soloist diploma candidate from the music conservatory in Hannover, Germany. www.leedionne.com
